tny.im was down for 28 hours starting on April 8 12:20 UTC, due to a DDoS attack, certainly not with tny.im’s server as target, that made QuickPacket block a range of a IP addresses which included that server’s IP.
We have switched to another server on another provider, but due to a failure in the automated daily backups system, the most recent backup was from March 27, which means that all clicks and short URLs made after that date are lost. We are working to restore the lost information, and we’re currently waiting for the old server to become accessible again so that we can retrieve that information.
We are deeply sorry for the trouble this has caused and is causing.
Regarding the Heartbleed vulnerability, we’d like to inform our users that tny.im’s certificate was never exposed, because our previous server was running OpenSSL 0.9.8 and our new one is running a patched build of OpenSSL 1.0.1e.
